Xtreme Teams Head To USA HOCKEY NATIONALS
ASHBURN XTREME WILL TRY TO ADD TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY CASE
The Ashburn Xtreme U 14 and U 18 Teams won state championships this past weekend and will compete for the USA Hockey National Tier II Championship beginning at the end of the month. The Xtreme organization has previousily won five USA Hockey National Championships.
Xtreme U 14 AA Team, coached by Xtreme Hockey Director Troy MacCormick and currently ranked # 1 in the country by My Hockey Rankings, beat Caps Academy two straight in there best of three state final, 8-0 and 9-1. Coach MacCormick’s team dominated the Caps both games from start to finish. They will play for the U 14 National Championship in Denver, Colorado starting on March 30.
The U 18 AA Team, coached by Xtreme Excutive Director Gary Pouliot won a tough three game series with Reston. The Xtreme lost game one 7-2, but came back to win the next two games 3-0 and 3-1. That earned them a ticket to compete for U 18 National Tier II Championship beginning on March 30 in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The Xtreme has won the U 18 USA Hockey National Tier II Championship four times in the past ten years.
