Former Xtreme 2004 Commits to RPI (NCAA D1)
Former Ashburn Xtreme 2004 birth year defenseman has commited to the Rensselear Polytecnical Institute (RPI) for the 2022 season.
Kareem was a considered a late blooming player, graduating from the AIH Youth House League to the Xtreme 2004 Squirt AA #2 team during the 2014-15 season. On the Xtreme 2004 team, Kareem was coached by Troy MacCormick and Mike Figurski and quickly established himself as a strong, dependable two way defensman. He played two more seasons of Xtreme 2004 birth year hockey, winning CBHL Peewee AA Regular Season and Playoff Championships in 2016-17. Kareem then played the next two seasons in the WLC’s and Team MD organizations before spending two years in the NJ Rockets hockey club.
While with the Rockets, Kareem was a 10th round draft pick of the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League. The OHL is the premiere junior development league for 16-20 year olds in the world (ie: Connor McDavid, Mitch Marner).
Kareem has chosen to commit to RPI and follow the NCAA Divisoin 1 route and hopes to one day play pro hockey.
